Free or Paid software for graphics

So, what would you choose if you ever have to pick one software?
These days, free softwares offer really cool features just like a paid software.

It's actually no big deal considering today's motto which is, "let's go for open source".

As for me, I would go for a free software. The actual Photoshop software isn't that cheap and I don't think, I would ever need one(paid software that is).

So what about you guys? What would you choose?

I don't do too much graphics work. I would choose to use a free software. For me, paid software would not be worth the investment. Free software's still have the same great features as well.
