In most forums, we can choose what images to represent the usernames that we use to communicate with other members. An avatar, if used properly, can enhance the quality of its member's overall presentation.
Having a default or removed avatar can be a symbol of anonymity; you probably don't want to "stand out" from the crowd, but you still insist on browsing the forums at the cost of being identified in some way.
With all that said, take a look at your current avatar -- the one you chose to present yourself as — and post about what made you use that as your "face".
