The best free software for graphic design?

I'm looking to start with graphic design and would like to know which software would be the best?

Some people recommended me GIMP, but want to hear suggestions here.

I would agree with those people who recommended you GIMP since it is probably the best free software for graphic manipulations.

I would recommend GIMP. It's the most popular and well-known of free graphics software outside of getting the premium ones illegally.

I would recommend photoshop elements 12 but it will cost you some money, and you have to learn how to use it. If you are wanting a free service you can check out www.pizap.com Smile
It's really easy to make top notch images.

I tried GIMP, but unfortunately I didn't like it.

However, I do believe it's the best option if you want a decent program for free.

Gimp isn't as detailed and flashy as photoshop, but it's the best free program you can get. Legally that is.

I really enjoy the fact that GIMP is free. Though very limited, I have photoshop CS6 on my computer. You can get a free trial from Adobes website and then have the option to purchase if you really like in later on.

Thanks for the suggestion, I really appreciate them, installed GIMP and it works like a charm so far.
